Not Normal...

Okay this picture just cracked me up!

 

It also reminded me of Monday's PlanetWisdom.com Devotionals (below).

 

ANY sin we get involved in/with leaves a mark on us!  Yes, we ARE forgiven of our sins.  Jesus took care of that on the cross when He took our place and suffered the wrath of God (which WE deserved) for our sin.  And, although our sins are already paid for...we continue to sin and still need to confess them, stop doing them and ask for forgiveness.

 

That is one of the problems right now in our relationship with Jameson.  There are sin issues on the table.  It is very hard for me to submit to Frank's decision in this situation.  But, in my heart, I know he is right and honoring the Lord.  As a mom, I want to sweep away all the dirt on the table with my clorox wipes (which, btw, are awesome)!

 

Like this terribly cute puppy picture...we sometimes want to laugh and ignore the obvious results of what has been going on.  Too bad kids aren't like puppies!  Well, in some aspects I supposed they are.  You have to train them, reinforce the training and follow through on the discipline to help the puppy/child learn the lesson.  That is what Frank is trying to do with Jameson.

 

Some sins are more obvious than others.  And, we think (in our peabrains) that we can "get away" with our sin!  Rest assured, even if we are pulling one over on our friends, family, teachers, etc., we are not fooling God.  God sees everything we do.  Think about that and try to fix that in your heart for this next week.  Everywhere you go, God goes there with you.  Stop and ask yourself, "is this bringing honor to God?" before you make that decision, or do that thing...or lie, or cheat on a test, or look at that porno site...or drink that alcoholic beverage...or smoke that cig/joint/pipe...or get alone with that girl/guy and have sex or touch body parts in a sexual way...or stay the night at your boyfriend/girlfriend's house (EVEN if you aren't doing anything)...or go out with than non-believer...or wear that revealing top/bottom/dress...or speak profanity...or tell that dirty joke...or skip class...or use your cellphone when you know it is against school policy...or...you fill in the dots.

 

Ephesians 5:3-5 warns us: "There must not be EVEN A HINT of sexual immorality among you, or any kind of impurity, or greed, because these are improper for God's people.  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking...but rather thanksgiving.  You can be sure of this:  No immoral, impure or greedy person has any inheritance in the kingdom of God."

Not Normal Posted: 05 Oct 2008 09:59 PM CDT "Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body." (Ephesians 4:25) What is the first specific change Paul said must happen in those who follow Jesus? What must we stop (or take off) first? Murder? Rape? Stealing? Nope. It's lying. Something tells me most of us would put it further down the list. I've heard Christian students openly talking about lying to their parents or others as if it didn't matter. As if it were just normal teen life. And it is. But not for Christians, Paul said. We're not supposed to be normal any more. And the first weird thing that's supposed to jump out about us is that we tell the truth. Always. No matter what. Think: What value do you place on telling a lie? Does it feel like a low-cost sin or a big-ticket one? Why do you think it's such a big deal to God? Pray: Ask God to make you even less normal by causing an alarm to go off in your head every time you start to think about telling a lie. Then ask Him to give you the courage to tell the truth, even if it costs you something.
